On the occasion of World Youth Day, I am happy to send this message to the youth of Ghana. We are passing through an important and exciting phase not only in the reconstruction and development of our country, but also in the struggle for the freedom and unity of our great continent. In this great task of reconstruction, all of you have vital part to play. In this spirit, I ask you to rededicate yourselves, in loyalty and patriotism, for the service of your country and Africa.
If we are to succeed in our endeavours, the youth of today must cultivate the virtues which we expect of Africa’s new man. Our youth must be strong, of good character; of great moral courage, humble, hardworking, polite, responsible, reliable and scrupulously honest. These are the virtues on which we can build Ghana and make it a prosperous and happy place to live in.
Go forward and march together, in unity and strength, as one family and one people. In all things, remember that our great Party — the Convention People’s Party stand behind you as the bulwark of your assumptions.
